Acquittal, A Disaster, Says Keyamo
BY MUYIWA ADEYEMI

LAGOS - based lawyer Mr. Festus Keyamo has said that the judgement of the Federal High court, Ibadan acquitting Chief Iyiola Omisore of murder charges against him "leaves a sour taste in the mouth."

He said that the " judgement is surely against the weight of evidence available in court." Keyamo said, " from the evidence. The least that could have happened was a conviction for conspiracy to murder."

He added: "The judgement in fact puts more pressure on the Federal Government to tell the world who killed Bola Ige. The judgement is suspect and unacceptable.'

The human rights activist who had in the earlier stage of the murder case presented Olugbenga Adebayo, alias Fryo to the public after he was declared to have been involved in the murder, said " the judgement which in effect affirms that there is no prime suspect in the dastardly act is a disaster for the security system of this country."

He added: " It is a disaster for the police, it is a disaster for the judiciary system and it is a disaster for the Federal Government" .

The lawyer thereafter advised the prosecution to go on appeal "while the soul and spirit of Bola Ige will continue to cry for justice."

Some weeks after the gruesome murder of the late Attorney General of the Federation, the police declared Fryo wanted, alleging that he had a case to answer.

But Fryo did not show up to the police until he had presented himself to Keyamo who had a press conference where Senator Omiosore was implicated in the murder.

While in police custody, Fryo however gave contrary statement denying that he ever told Keyamo that it was Senator Omisore who masterminded the murder of Ige.
