When contacted for comments on the court ruling, the late Ige's eldest daughter, Mrs. Funso Adegbola, said she had nothing to say. Mrs. Adegbola managed only to say that since the family was no longer interested in the case, she would not want to talk about it. After much pressure, she simply said in Yoruba, Oropesije (I do not know what to say). A member of the 'Bola Ige Movement and former Special Adviser to former Governor Bisi Akande, Chief Ayo Afolabi, also refused to comment on the judgment, saying the group might issue a statement later. Justice Akin Sanda had during the ruling commended the media for their accurate reports on the court's proceedings, saying, "we are proud of you for the way you disseminate the day-to-day proceedings.
