Former deputy governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore,
who was recently discharged and acquitted by an Ibadan High
Court over alleged complicity in the murder of former Attorney-General
and Minister of Justice, Chief Bola Ige reappeared in the
senate Tuesday after over a year of absence.
Omisore, presently vice chairman, senate committee on Industries,
arrived the National Assembly complex late Tuesday morning,
accompanied by a few aides and a mobile policeman.
At the lobby, the lawmaker was seen pumping hands and exchanging
animated pleasantries with a few senators present, including
Senator David Brigidi.
Perhaps to familiarise himself once again with the chamber
which he left in unsavoury circumstances last July, the former
deputy governor went inside, accompanied by Brigidi, dusted
his seat and surveyed the environment for a few minutes.
When Omisore emerged from the chamber, he headed straight
to his office at room 223, second floor of the main complex,
dubbed the white house.
At his office, Omisore was said to have been given a rousing
welcome by his staffers, who had not see their boss for well
over a year.
When Daily Sun visited the office, the atmosphere was quite
electrifying as everyone around spotted wide smiles.
Although efforts to get a one-to-one chat with the Senator
failed, his private secretary, one Adebowale assured that
Omisore would "talk another day, but certainly not today.
He is just trying to settled down."
Omisore, who later left the Assembly, accompanied by Senators
Ogunwale and Folarin, looked calm. He equally calmly and politely
turned down pressures from senate correspondents to speak
on his trial and acquittal.
"Gentlemen, kindly excuse us today. I would certainly
talk with you latest Thursday, this is a promise," the
Senator assured, as he pumped hands with newsmen who chorused
"you are most welcome, sir."
