LEDAP notes that such public tender announcement promotes transparency in the way government contracts are awarded. LEDAP further urges the Anambra State Government to: Ensure that the process of tender-selection is transparent and open; Announce all winners; and Ensure that contractors keep to time in work schedule. The task of ensuring that contractors keep to work schedule could best be achieved by involving communities that would benefit from contracts to monitor the full implementation of the projects. The reconstruction / rehabilitation of these roads in the state is long overdue and we commend the goodwill and responsibility of the Anambra State Government to commence work on them. Sustaining transparency in the way government business is run will improve public confidence in governance and thereby strengthen democracy in the country. LEDAP urges other state and federal governments to ensure that all contract awarded are by open and publicly monitored tender system. This is a chance for Anambra State government to touch many more lives positively.
