GOMBE — THE Commissioner for Rural Development in Gombe State Alh. Isma’ila Mu’azu Hassan has apologized to Governor Mohamed Danjuma Goje and the people of the state for misinforming the Governor , an act which could have cost him his Job.
He said that his relationship with Governor Goje whom he described as his “brother” was very cordial but whatever he (Goje) decides on him, the Commissioner said he would take take it kindly.
Speaking to journalists in Deba, the Headquarters of Yamaltu/Deba Local Government of Gombe State on Monday, the commissioner said that any leader ought to correct his subject for any mistake or misdeeds committed while the Governor has accepted his apology and as a good leader, he has forgiven him for the mistake.
Alhaji Hassan appealed to the press to try as much as possible to bring down tension even if there is tension in the name of God, adding that everybody should join hands together with Governor Goje to develop the state socially, economically and politically.
The commissioner also apologized to the three affected communities for the mistakes done to them but stressed that the communities should protect those facilities from vandalisation or men of underworld.
It could be recalled that last week, Governor Mohammed Danjuma Goje threatened to sack the Commissioner for deceiving him to commission an uncompleted electrification project in Kaltungo and Billiri respectively.
The Governor who later discovered the fraud told the Commissioner publicly that he (Goje) would sack him for cheating and embarrassing him instantly.
The action of the Governor would have been effected if not that the elders of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) caucus pleaded with the Governor, saying that sacking him would embarrass the party at the top level of Governance.
