N80m realised from sale of forms for Games Village housesThe Ministry of Housing and Urban Develop ment realised N80 million from the sale of forms for the houses at the Games Village in Abuja, the Minister, Mrs Mobolaji Osomo, has said. Osomo told newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday that the money was realised from the sale of one million forms printed by the ministry. �The sale was really encouraging as many people had wanted to participate in the raffle draws�, she maintained. It was gathered that the forms were sold for N5,000 each throughout the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The forms were sold by the All States Trust Bank, Continental Trust Bank, First Bank of Nigeria PLC, Fortune Bank, Intercity Bank, Oceanic Bank and Union Bank of Nigeria. Five hundred and fifty-six housing units made up of 321 units of 4-bedrooms and 235 units of 3-bedrooms were put up for sale. It would be recalled that the 4-bedroom terrace houses were sold for N16 million while the 3-bedroom terrace houses went for N12.5 million. Osomo said a meeting between the seven banks would be convened by the ministry on July 3, to ascertain the number of people who had met the conditions for payment. Each winner, she said, was required to pay 30 per cent of the cost of property within 30 days while the balance of 70 per cent was to be made within 60 days. �Failure to meet the payment terms will lead to forfeiture of offer,� the minister said.
