Jos North Communities Sign Peace Accord Communities in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau have unanimously agreed not to mix politics with religion. This was contained in a communique signed by representatives of 13 communities, a copy of which was made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Jos on Monday. The 13-point communique also agreed that all the ethnic groups would embrace peace among themselves and shun all forms of violence. On the issue of indigeneship, it was agreed that Jos North Local Government Area should not be treated in isolation but like any other local government in the country. The communities resolved that there should be a permanent peace committee which would be responsible for initiating dialogue among them. The communique said a judicial commission of inquiry would be set up to investigate the causes of the burning of the Jos main market to forestall a recurrence. It said government should do all within its powers to rebuild the market and, in the interim, complete the construction of all satellite markets. While calling on government to provide adequate security for all citizens, the communities implored government to create opportunities for youth empowerment. The communique was signed by representatives of Afizere, Anaguta, Berom, Fulani, Hausa, Idoma, Igbo, Ebira, Tiv, Sayawa, Southern Kaduna, South-South and Yoruba.
