Plateau Indigenes Advised on Emergency Rule From Josephine Lohor in Abuja People of Plateau State have been advised to make the best of the state of emergency declared in the state by President Olusegun Obasanjo by achieving total peace and reconciliation amongst themselves. A former governorship candidate in Anambra State, Dr Obinna Uzoh, who gave the advise while addressing newsmen yesterday, asked indigenes of Yelwa, Shendam in Plateau State to put the past behind and forge ahead. Uzoh extended his call for peaceful co-existence to other parts of Nigeria that have experienced one form of communal crises or the other. While emphasising that individuals indeed had their rights, the former governorship candidate urged Nigerians to see themselves as their brothers' keeper, adding that God obviously had a reason for creating Nigeria and the people therein. To buttress his point, Uzoh, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said the United States of America (USA) understood the need for this by adopting a policy of admitting citizens of other countries as American nationals.
