13 Prisoners Get Reprieve No fewer than 13 prisoners, serving various jail terms in the federal prisons, Ibara, Abeokuta, Ogun State capital have regained their freedom. The state Chief Judge, Justice Oluremi Jacobs who granted the amnesty during an official visit to the inmates, explained that the move was to decongest the prison. Those who were freed include 11 males and two females who have been convicted for various offences such as stealing, arson, murder, armed robbeAry, rape and mail damage. Among the freed inmates were Jimoh Adeniyi, Dupe Ogundairo, Rasaki Moshood, Abiodun Adebiyi and Kwani Wisdom. Others include Patrick Obasi, Sunday Chukwu, Ibrahim Adebayo, Kayode Sonbo, and Emmanuel Linus. The rest are Mohammed Dauda, Idowu Adesina and Patience Johnson, a nursing mother. While granting the amnesty, the chief judge noted that the lucky prisoners have spent over one year and have been found of good conduct in prison. He charged them to turn a new leaf adding that there is the need for them to reciprocate the kind gesture with good conduct. He equally advised them to move closer to God and earn their living through honest means, noting that the ministry would continue to decongest prisons across the state.
