Adamawa SSG Rationalises Monarchs Exit, Rates PDP High
From Abel Orih in Yola
The Secretary to Adamawa State Gov-ernment (SSG) Alhaji Ibrahim Bapetel, has said
the recent decision taken by the state government to dethrone the paramount ruler of
Bachama Chiefdom, Freddy Sediti Bongo, and imposition of curfew on Numan and Yola
towns not affect the fortune of PDP in the state.
The SSG, admitted that although it is true that the PDP government in Adamawa state
had a setback, it would have nothing to do with the partys performance at the polls in
future.
According to him, the set-back is on the peace enterprise where government has
invested a lot to ensure that the people of the state reap the dividends. To be candid,
inspite the setback in this aspect, we have been receiving bonuses from our efforts so far.
We are not happy about the unfortunate situation in Numan and that should be a set-
back for any administration, but if you look at it politically it is a plus to us because we
have been decisive and has successfully restored peace to that part of the state and we
thank God for that.
Bapetel noted that politically, it is not a minus for the PDP led government because it is
not the Boni administration that ignited the problem in Numan, but rather that the
government did what should be done to restore peace to the area and its environs.
We contained it at the right time and people are praising us for taking such an enduring
decision. We are going to have election on the 10th of July and I would like our critics to
remain alive and see what a resounding victory PDP is going to record against other
parties.
These critics that have nothing to do than to cash in on their assumed golden
opportunities to indul-ge in campaigns of calumny so as to gain cheap popularity will go
to the polls with us and they will come to know we are not what they are saying we are.
According to him, it has proved to the people of the state the caring aspect of the present
government as exhibited in the prompt attention that was given to stop further escalation
of the crisis, the wounded victims adequately hospitalized while relief materials were
procured for the victims for alleviate their sufferings.
Bapetel further asserted that the victims of the crisis were full of commendation for
governments generosity and decisive intervention to bring the situation to normalcy,
irrespective of the decision banishing the Hama Bachama.
