Dangote to Dish Out N200m in Promo
By James Emejo
In what appears to be one of the biggest promotions in recent times in Nigeria, no fewer than two hundred persons will get N1million each in the 25-week Dangote 'Be A Millionaire Promotion' scheduled to commence from July 1,2004 through December 31, 2004. The figure represents an average of eight millionaires every week.
Dangote Group, is a foremost manufacturer of quality products in Nigeria.
"All we are trying to do, is that every week, Dangote is saying a big thank you to Nigerians for patronising our products, for their loyalty and also to say continue to patronise us," said Akin Adesokan, GM (sales and marketing), Dangote at a press briefing in Lagos at the weekend.
The event, themed " Be a Millionaire" which is mainly for its distributors and consumers, focuses on three products: Dangote flour, Dangote Spaghetti and Macaroni and will be run for twenty-five (25) weeks.
The draws, which will be broadcast on the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) while the programme lasts, will however be conducted separately for distributors and consumers (but on the same day every week) to broaden the consumers chances of wining, he told reporters.
By implication, four millionaires will emerge from both distributors and consumers weekly.
Also, consolation prizes, such as television sets, deep freezers, stereo sets and generators worth more than N350million will also be given out to its teeming consumers.
To qualify for the draws, according to Adesokan, distributors who buy a truck load (600 bags) of Dangote flour is entitled to only one entry ticket for the specified product, while 1000 cartoons of either spaghetti or macaroni equally allows for just one entry.
Similarly, consumers are requested to produce five (5) wrappers of either Dangote flour, spaghetti or macaroni, to qualify for an entry.
The sales manager was however, quick to add that those who mix different product wrappers to arrive at the required numbers stand the risk of outrightly disqualification.
Though, a national promotion, whereby every Nigerian can enter as many times as he or she desires, it however forbids both employees of Dangote and Total Marketing Concepts (TMC) from taking part. This is to ensure transparency so as to forestall possible sharp practices.
There is also an internal control mechanism as well as an adequate security features on the tickets to ensure a fraud free promotion.
While welcoming new distributors who would want to come into the competition, Adesokan urged them to visit any of its regional offices for necessary information.
Entries for the promotion can either be posted to any of Dangote regional offices or any of its authorised Promotion Redemption Centres.
