The Nigeria
Football Association (NFA) first Vice-Chairman, Col. Dogo Yabilsu has
criticised the NFA for metting out inadequate punishment to clubs whose
supporters’ perpetrate violence during league matches.
He said at a press
conference in Lagos on Tuesday that sentiment was allowed in metting out
punishment to clubs, saying two or three match ban from playing on home ground
was inadequate.
According to him,
the Confederation of African Football (CAF) would not place a ban less than a
year on any club whose supporters perpetrate such violent acts as are being perpetrated in the
country’s league.
The out-going
chairman of the Nigeria Football Referee Association (NRA), said the NFA boss,
Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima would not resign his position on the board of the NFA.
He said Galadima,
before he was elected chairman, knew what it entailed to be the head of the
association.
“What
Galadima wants is a situation where board members will work as a team, where
there will be unity and cohesion,” ascribing the hijacking of the
functions of the board by the sports ministry to communication gap.
