masterminded plot to remove Wabara � Nzeribe
SOUTH-East Senate Caucus Leader, Senator Arthur Nzeribe,
on Tuesday opened light on the failed plan to impeach Chief Adolphus
Wabara, describing himself as the plot�s major
financier, joint originator and facilitator pursuing a personal agenda to
succeed Wabara. In a four-page statement n which he detailed how the plot was hatched, Nzeribe, who in 1993 founded the Association of Better
Nigeria (ABN) which scuttled that year�s June 12
presidential election, said the anti-Wabara group
cooked up facts to win public sympathy. Regretting that the original plot was not being played out the way he wrote
it, Nzeribe said; �At this point, I wish to state
unequivocally that enough is enough! Let Senator Wabara
be and remain our Senate President. He has been rattled and shaken enough but
should not be slain...� He added: �For the avoidance of doubt, let me restate categorically that
there is nothing to the sundry allegations of misappropriation, fraud and
embezzlement levelled against the Senate president. �The campaign was an afterthought and was designed to attract the sympathy
of the Nigerian public, give a dog a bad name and cover up the original plot.
All of these were contrived to facilitate the original agenda. All of these
were designed to undo Senator Adolphus Wabara. Now, the Declaring that following the Eastern Senators resolve to remove Wabara and make him Senate President, Nzeribe
said enlisted Senator David Mark to be the group�s arrowhead because of the
retired general�s innate qualities of high integrity, capabilities, capacity
and popularity. On his sudden change of mind, Nzeribe said he was
not coaxed into the original plot, the facts now available to him were
convincing enough for him to discontinue and withdraw from the campaign and
urged his co-travellers to sheathe their swords. |
