A senior security guard of President Olusegun Obasanjo has been shot by four unidentified gunmen.
The senior State Security Service (SSS) operative, identified as Mr. Odetola, was shot by gunmen around 10 p.m. opposite the Police Officers' Mess, Area II, Abuja.
P.M.News investigations revealed that the senior presidential aide who was shot in the buttocks, is now receiving treatment at the Aso Rock Clinic.
It was learnt that Odetola, who was on official duty in the area on Saturday, was shot by the gunmen who were believed to be fleeing after an operation.
The SSS officer, according to report, dragged himself to the police junction near Area II, but policemen at the junction reportedly told him that they had no fuel in their vehicle to take him to the hospital.
A police source disclosed that even when Odetola identified himself as a bodyguard of the president, the policemen still refused to assist him.
The shooting of the president's top security aide has once again brought to the fore the general insecurity in the country.
Early this year, a chieftain of the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP), Andrew Agom, was shot dead by armed men when the convoy of the Benue State Governor, George Akume, was attacked in Nassarawa State, on its way to Abuja.

Chief Aminasoari Dikibo, Deputy National Chairman, PDP South-South, was also killed within the period in Delta State on his way to attend a meeting of South-South leaders of the PDP and the governors.
Similarly, a chieftain of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) Chief Marshal Harry, was killed late last year by gunmen who stormed his residence in Abuja.
