Last Updated: Monday, November 1st, 2004 HOME | Previous Page Etsako Central assures rainstorm disaster victims   By Benson Agwu Correspondent, Benin City   Chairman of Etsako Central Local Government Area of Edo State, Mr Pascal Ugbome, has assured victims of the recent rainstorm disaster in Udaba and Anegbette that his administration would take their plight to the state and federal government for rehabilitation of those affected. Ugbome gave the assurance during his visit to the communities to assess the extent of damage, and to commiserate with victims of the rainstorm, pointing out that the council does not have the resources to rehabilitate victims of the incident, hence the need to seek the assistance of the state and federal government. At Udaba, the chairman was conducted round affected areas, which include the Assumption Catholic Church and the residence of the parish priest, the Aloaye Primary School, the community market, the social centre as well as general residential buildings where property worth millions of naira were reportedly destroyed. At Anegbette, where over 40 casualties were recorded, the chairman was also conducted round areas of the rainstorm disaster. A similar rainstorm hit the Ekperi axis of the council area, in which crops and fishponds worth millions of naira were destroyed two months ago.   Copyright� 2004. All Rights Reserved.
