Campaigners Dump IBB for Marwa From Ademola Adeyemo in Ibadan Hundreds of members of IBB Project 2007 and other groups campaigning for the former Head of State Ibrahim Babangida at the weekend stormed the Premier Hotel Ibadan to declare their support for Muhammed Buba Marwa's presidential project. The groups who renounced their membership of the IBB Project 2007 explained that they decided to dump Babangida "because the people of the Yorubaland did not forgive him on the annulment of the June 12 1999 presidential election. Their spokesman, Hon. Remi Tella who led other groups such as IBB Vision 2007, IBB Vanguard The Eagle Club and IBB Project 2007 told journalists that they could not convince the people in the south west on the suitability of Babangida's candidature in 2007. According to Tella, "The antecedent of General Babangida as the military president who annulled the popular June 12, 1993 presidential election has continued to hunt him." Tella also accused Babangida of the failure to proffer answer to the other allegations against him such as the missing 12.4 billion dollars Gulf Oil windfall, the Dele Giwa murder and the death of a generation of Nigeria military officers in the 1992 Ejigbo C130 crash. The group while declaring for the Buba Marwa presidential ambition also expressed dismay over what they alled "overrecycled leadership" which they said cannot lead the country to any progressive end. According to him, Buba Marwa presidential bid, would serve the nation better "because this is the paradigm shift Nigeria needs." "Marwa has enough intellectual strength to steer the ship of the nation with positive focus, pragmatic policy and implementation of the people-oriented government," the said.
