JDA Offers 4 Oil Blocks for Bids From Onyebuchi Ezigbo in Abuja Joint Ministerial Council Meeting (JMC) of the Nigeria-Sao Tome and Principe Joint Development Zone (JDZ) over the weekend approved the offer for bidding of four new oil blocks in the zone and asked Joint Development Authority (JDA) to conduct another licensing round within two months. Rising from a two-day crucial council meeting held in Abuja, JMC, the highest policy-making arm of the organisation, directed JDA to accelerate negotiations on Production Sharing Contract (PSC) on oil block one and ensure conclusion of the process before the end of December. In a six-paragraph statement, read by Nigeria's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Alhaji Abubakar Tanko, the council said it has approved the appointment of the accounting firm, Price Waterhouse Coopers, to audit the 2003 accounts of JDA. The PSC is currently being negotiated between JDA board and winners of JDZ block one, namely, Chevron-Texaco, Exxon-Mobil and Dangote-Energy Equity Resources. "Council noted with satisfaction and commended JDA negotiating team for the progress recorded in PSC negotiations and charged JDA board to accelerate the process with a view to concluding negotiations before the end of the year," he said.
