'Glo Mobile Now in 57 Cities'
FCT

Glo Mobile, the GSM arm of Second National Operator, Globacom is now available in 157 towns and cities across the country, making it the fastest growing network in the country. In addition, it has covered 17 expressways, making it the strongest on the expressways.

The network covers each city or town so well that clear signal is taking for granted in any of these areas. Already it has covered over 3,000 communities and the launch of Yola last week begins a new chapter in its effort to extend its services to the entire country. The network had promised to launch one million lines in the 20 Nothern cities and has started what will turn out a train into all the cities with the Yola launch.

Some of the expressways covered so far include Aba-Port Harcourt road which starts from Aba, Abia State, in the South East and leads to Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State in the South-South geo-political region, Abeokuta-Offa road, which crosses three states of Ogun, Oyo in the South West and Kwara States, in the North Central.

The network has also covered Epe-Ijebu Road, which keeps the subscriber in touch with family, friends and business partners across three states of Lagos, Oyo and Ogun, all in the South West, Ibadan-Ile-Ife and Ile-Ife-Ilesha expressways, which crosses two states of Oyo and Osun also in the South West.

There is also excellent coverage along Ilorin-Ofa Road in Kwara State, North Central, and Ilorin-Ogbomosho road which is the main gateway between the South and the Northern parts of the country. Others covered include, Lagos-Abeokuta, Lagos-Badagry, and the Lagos-Benin stretch which covers Lagos, Ogun, Ondo and Edo States. This is the gateway to the South East and the South-South. Glo Mobile has also covered Lagos-Ibadan expressway and Sagamu-Abeokuta road.

Travellers and journalists alike have adjudged Glo Mobile as having the best coverage on the roads and in the cities and towns covered by the network

To build the biggest and most efficient network in Africa, the SNO had signed a contract with Siemens of Germany to build a modern network which is comparable with the latest and best in the world. Siemens is also building the nation-wide fibre optics backbone for Globacom as well as the networks fixed line in Lagos and Ibadan, which is billed to deliver 70 thousand lines in these two cities soon. This is as Alcatel, the French contractor is building Glo Mobiles Glo Mobile is also making available to Nigerians state of the art mobile data and value added services comparable to the offerings in the developed countries of the world today.
