PDP Warns Against Violence
Ogun
From Toba Suleiman in Abeokuta
Leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) South West Zone has warned that the party would no longer tolerate violence against its elected officials in any part of the country, especially in the South West.
The PDP National Vice-Chair-man SouthWest Zone, Chief Olabode George handed down the warning when he led a team of the partys leaders across the five Oodua states on a solidarity visit to the Ogun State Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel over the recent attacks on his convoy and his wife, Yeye Olufunke Daniel at Ilaro.
"We would like to sound a note of caution to all those who are rooted in the obsolete politics of thuggery and blackmail to desist from it or face the absolute wrath of the party. George who addressed a press conference at the end of his meeting with PDP members in Ogun State, said the team was mandated by the National Working Committee (NWC), of the party to pay a solidarity visit not to the Governor and his wife alone, but the entire people of the state over the incident.
Describing the attacks as the handiwork of a few miscreants, the party leader pointed out that they knew that the attack did not represent the feeling of the good people of Ogun State.
"It is most regrettable that the immediate past governor of the state has been fingered as the brain behind these attacks."
"We are not surprised. It is very much in line with the character of a man who has never outgrown youthful exuberance."
He has been unable to reconcile himself with the sound beating he received at the 2003 polls and the pace setting achievements of Governor Daniel in Ogun State.
It appears that he is now recovering from the coma to which he fell after he was defeated in the last election which he had arrogantly presumed was all signed, sealed and delivered.
'Suddenly he has just found his voice and seems to be reactivating his well known habit of the most primitive and despicable kind.
According to George, the antics and utterances of Osoba fell far below the dignity and standard expected of a former governor of the state.
