In the same breadth, the institution has also expelled over 200 students for various cases of examination malpractices.
The school's Public Relations officer, Mr.Godson Okafor who disclosed the development to newsmen in Awka said the two lecturers were former deans of the faculties of social sciences and management sciences respectively.
Although he declined to mention their names, the former Dean, Faculty of social sciences, a professor of psychology, he said, was suspended for "sorting," a pseudonym for luring students to part with their money in exchange for a "pass". The professor, he said had allegedly selected over 100 Diploma students taking his course whom he imagined would be able to part with some money and asked the class representative to tell them that they failed his course and requested a payment of N2,000 each if they hoped to pass.
"As at the time he was caught, a total of 37 students had paid the N2000 each among a list of over a 100 students", the PRO said.
Mr.Okafor who didn't say the duration of the suspension said the case of the former Dean of the Faculty of management sciences and two time Head of Department in the same faculty was for illegal sale of books and for "sorting".
The professor, it was alleged had contracted a woman who sold the pirated book and compiled the list of buyers for him. He was also alleged to have delegated a male student in his class to collect N3,000 from any student who wants to pass his course.
Okafor said their suspension was part of efforts by the institutions Vice-Chancellor to discourage unwhole some debasing acts of some of the lecturers and instill discipline, while uplifting the standard and quality of learning in the school.
Outside of the 200 students from various faculties expelled for varying cases of examination malpractices, NAU, the PRO said has made an admission policy which does not consider for offer of admission any candidates who scored below 200 marks in the JAMB examinations, adding that all admissions in the University are now strictly on merit, while the score of each student admitted is pasted on the schools admission notice board alongside his or her name.
"The preponderance of cheating during examinations has inspired a new rule which made all members of the university management including the vice-chancellor, prof.Ilochi Okafor, to now participate in examination supervision and monitoring," he said.
