FRIDAY , NOVEMBER 5, 2004   RAMADAN 23, 1425 A.H.           Jigawa ANPP crisis deepens, Aujara removed From MU�AWUYA B. IDRIS, Dutse THE on-going crisis within the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) Jigawa state chapter over the purported decamping of Governor Saminu Turaki to PDP yesterday took a new dimension with the sudden announcement of the removal of the state chairman Alhaji Babanan Rabo Aujara from the party. Announcing the removal at a press conference in Dutse, the state deputy chairman of ANPP, Alhaji Muhammad Daguro said Alhaji Aujara was removed for alleged diversion of party�s funds and those of polling units meant for Aujara local government. Alhaji Daguro explained that a committee was set up by the party which investigated Alhaji Aujara and found him guilty. He explained that the committee did not invite Alhaji Babannan Rabo Aujara to defend himself, insisting: �The committee after investigation found him guilty�. The deputy chairman however, said that Alhaji Aujara is still a bonafide member of ANPP, but �cannot claim to be the chairman,� adding: �The removal is final and irreversible.� It was gathered that Alhaji Aujara had insisted to remain in ANPP despite pressure on him by some political associates of Governor Turaki. According to our investigations, his refusal had however, angered Governor Turaki and associates who had vowed to punish him. In a swift reaction on his removal however, the embattled ANPP chairman who spoke through a telephone, described it as a joke and child-play. He insisted that he is still the party chairman, dismissing all allegations of diversion of funds. Alhaji Aujara claimed that he is aware of government�s move to ensure his arrest by the state police commissioner over the alleged diversion of money.
