FRIDAY , NOVEMBER 5, 2004   RAMADAN 23, 1425 A.H.           Bichi disburses N5m to LEA as loan By LAWAN MOHAMMAD BICHI Bichi local government council in Kano state has given loan to the tune of N5 million to its local education authority to staff and teachers. The education secretary of the local government, Alhaji Rabi'u Falalu Waire, disclosed to Daily Triumph in an interview. He said, already the council has approved the sum of N3.4 million as scholarship assistance to 1,200 students in the area. He commended the local government, chairman, Alhaji Lawan Shehu for his untiring support to the education department. According, to him, the council has also ordered the purchase of 200 motorcycles and bicycles as well as 20 sewing machines for female teachers as loans. He stressed the need for the teachers to reciprocate the gesture by reporting to their working places on time. He then assured the local government, that they were given.
