FRIDAY , NOVEMBER 5, 2004   RAMADAN 23, 1425 A.H.           Zamfara to establish women, children hospitals Zamfara state government is to establish women and children hospitals in each of the 14 local government areas of the state. The state�s acting governor, Alhaji Mamuda Aliyu, made the declaration in Gusau on Tuesday during the 2004 National Productivity Day and award of state productivity order of merit. He said the hospitals would provide drugs and free medical services. According to him, the various packages of incentives provided by the government to its citizenry will boost economic activities in the state and increase the productive capacity of the people. Aliyu noted that the theme of this year�s celebration: �Impact of deregulation on productivity in a developing economy��, was timely considering the development of the nation�s economy vis-a-vis trends in world economy. Earlier in his address, the Minister of Labour and Productivity, Dr Hassan Lawal, stressed the need for private sector participation in the development of the nation�s economy. He observed that no nation had ever become great without the active and full participation of the private sector in the economy. The minister was represented by the state�s coordinator of the National Directorate of Employment. Six persons were honoured with the award of state production order of merit at the ceremony.
