Udeka National Index Barely two weeks after a man hung himself in his room in Makurdi, Benue State, another man has also taken his life in the same city. Alexander Obaji, 48 was found dangling on a tree opposite Bank of the North in Makurdi at the early hours of Monday. A neighbour who prefers to be anonymous told Saturday Sun that the deceased was formerly a staff of the Bank of the North Kano branch until he was laid off recently. On what could have made him commit suicide the neighbour said, "he was duped of the money he had on him and incidentally his wife gave birth on Thursday last week, and he had no money to take care of the wife and child". When contacted, the wife, Mrs., Pauline Obaji said her husband told her he was going to kill himself and she tried to stop him but could not. "He just ran out and the next thing I heard was that he has hung himself", his shocked wife said when contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Samuel Jinadu confirmed the incident but disclosed that when the wife was confronted in respect of the suicide note he left behind, she claimed to have misplaced it. It would be recalled that about two weeks ago, Bernard Ofonze, 45 was found dangling from the ceiling fan of his room stone dead in Makurdi. He was said to have taken his life due to recurrent fracas with his wife whom he alleged had been unfaithful to him, although the Police later brought another twist to the matter, alleging foul play in the siucide claim regarding Ofonze. •ACB International Bank Plc MD/CEO , Mr John I.
