Mohammed Bello for burial today
Niyi Odebode, Abeokuta
Former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Mohammed Bello, who died in a German hospital on Thursday, will be buried on Saturday (today) in Kaduna.
A close friend of the family, Chief Ladi Williams (SAN), told NAN in Abuja on Friday that the remains of the former chief justice will be flown from Germany to Kaduna for interment.
He described Bello as an upright, knowledgeable and honest man, who contributed immensely to the advancement of the justice system in the country.
Also, former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Bola Ajibola, said on Friday that Bello had a premonition of his death.
He told newsmen in Abeokuta that Bello had given the hint during their last encounter five months ago that he might be living his last years on earth.
Recalling their discusion, Ajibola said: I saw him last, five months ago in Abuja. We went for lunch at Buka Restaurant. What he told me then was a little bit philosophical.
I was talking to him about projects that would last for another decade and he asked me quite casually, who will be there then? As far as I am concerned, I am not sure I will be here.
According to him, Bello lived a disciplined life, was dedicated to his work and displayed warmth towards people.
Ajibola said: He was a great judge, simple, straight forward, unassuming, but firm and effective on the bench. He was part of the bunch of our judges that developed the jurisprudence of substantial justice.
The former minister also recalled that the late chief justice played a great role in his appointment as a judge of the International Court of Justice.
