Special Assistant on Public Affairs to President Olusegun Obasanjo, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has said that government would create an enabling environment to encourage private school investors in the country. Chief Fani-Kayode disclosed this yesterday at the 33rd annual inter-house sport competition of Corona School, Apapa at the National Stadium in Lagos. He said government will continue to work out modalities to encourage private school initiative to enhance the nation's educational system in the country. In his words "President Obasanjo is very very happy with the emphasis that the Nigerian people are now placing on private and quality education in Nigeria." Disclosing that in giving priority to education, government in the last budget have spent about 60 per cent of the total annual budget to improve the standard of education in Nigeria. Chief Fani-Kayode who was also chairman of the event added that government within its power will continue to encourage and give necessary support to private sector to establish universities and other institutions, revealing that government on its part in recent time has made provision of infrastructural development to the nation tertiary institutions to improve the educational system in the country.
