Martins Visits Friend In Hospital
NIGERIAN International Obafemi Martins arrived at Modena General Hospital this afternoon to visit his great friend Marvin Johnson, a 19-year-old footballer who plays for Formiginese in the Eccellenza championship and who jumped from his seventh floor balcony the other evening, terror-struck by a fire in the apartment in Formigine he shares with two team mates.
The youngster fell on to the roof of a camper parked beneath the building, which broke the fall. He underwent surgery in the orthopaedic ward and has fractured bones in his arms, but he has saved himself. He will recover in thirty days.
The arrival of Obafemi Martins at the hospital generated great interest and enthusiasm among the fans that recognised him. "Marvin and I played together in Nigeria when we were eight and nine years old; we have always been great friends," said Martins. "When I heard what had happened to him I wanted to visit him immediately. Luckily, it's not any more serious."

Scared by the smoke which had pervaded the home, Johnson decided to jump off the balcony, despite the attempts of one of his team mates to stop him.
