Man in court over robbery A 35-year old man has been arraigned before an Abuja Chief Magistrate for armed robbery. The accused person, Orikpo Chukwuma of Tasha Village, Gwarinpa, Abuja is charged with criminal conspiracy and armed robbery both contrary to sections 97 ad 2980 of the penal code law. According to the First Information Report (FIR), the accused person with others now at large on June 6, 2004 conspired and robbed a bus with registration number X 9715 ABJ at Idu Karmo forest. The prosecution stated that the said bus belonging to Sobu Motors Ltd was attacked and its passengers were robbed of cash of about N2 million and properties valued at N3 million. The prosecution further stated that the investigations are yet to be completed. The accused person who was not represented by any legal counsel denied the charges. The presiding chief magistrate adjourned the case to February 2, 2005 to enable the accused person to engage the services of a legal council. MORE ON ABJ....
