Imo assures non-indigenes of peace
From Charles Ogugbuajah, Owerri
HENCEFORTH, Imo State government will enter into multi-sectoral agreement with non-indigenes resident in the state.
The state Deputy Governor, Chief Ebere Udeagu, stated this at the weekend while receiving a delegation of Akwa-Ibom State indigenes' association resident in the state at the Government House, Owerri.
Udeagu said non-indigenes should feel free to interact with indigenes in any aspect that would bring progress and peace to the state.
He noted that the state government would continue to provide enabling environment for the non-indigenes to operate effectively.
"Imo State is ready to work with non-indigenes in the state. We have been doing it in the past and the state government would retain the multi-sectoral pact with non-indigenes. This, we feel, will bring about peace, progress and co-habitation", the deputy governor said.
He urged them to make use of the available opportunities offered by the state government.
The president of the association, Dr. Udo Inyang, said the body came to identify with the aspirations of government and the award night taking place soon.
