Katsina mourns Bello
From Olawale Tunde, Katsina
GOVERNOR Umar Musa Yar'adua has described the death of former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Mohammed Bello, as a great loss to Katsina State and the nation as a whole.
He described Bello as a legal luminary worthy of emulation because of his immense contribution to the development of the judiciary and Nigeria.
In a statement by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Press Affairs, Alhaji Attahiru Bakori, Yar'adua said the vacuum created by the deceased would be difficult to fill.
He, however, prayed that God should give Bello's family the courage to bear the loss.
Similarly, the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Abdullahi Sadiq Mahuta, in his reaction to Bello's death, said the deceased was a beacon of light to the judiciary.
"During his life-time, he left indelible records of honesty and humility", the CJ said.
Mahuta said being one of the closest persons to Bello during his life-time, he monitored the situation of a late chief judge, which he said was critical a few days to his death in the hospital.
According to Mahuta, some of those things the former chief justice will be remembered for include simplicity and humility.
He also prayed for God to forgive Bello all his sins and reward him with paradise while describing his death as a double loss to him.
