Police intercept tanker with Indian hemp

PETROLEUM tanker was at the weekend found with 480 bags of substances suspected to be Indian hemp along the Akure-Owo Expressway.
The Guardian gathered that the tanker with registration number, Niger AA 150 GWU and with the inscription, Auchi on its bonnet, was intercepted by the men of Ondo State Police Command.
Police sources informed The Guardian that the substance which was worth N15 million, was impounded at about 5 p.m. along the expressway at a check point mounted by officials of the Owo Police divisional station.
It was gathered that the driver of the tanker, who had eluded detection by telling the law enforcement agents that he was carrying fuel from Benin City, Edo State, was finally forced to stop for checking by policemen at somewhere at Owo Ondo State.
On checking the tanker, 480 bags of substances suspected to be Indian hemp were discovered inside it.
It was learnt that each bag of the substances cost about N30,000, while the entire 480 bags are estimated at N15 million.
