Tinubu not funding NLC strike, says Pedro
LAGOS State Deputy Governor, Femi Pedro, has dismissed as untrue the allegation by the South-West Vice-Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George, that Governor Bola Tinubu is funding the proposed Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) strike.
In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the State Governor, Segun Ayobolu, the deputy governor urged Nigerians to ignore George's claims, which he described as "reckless."
Pedro was yesterday at a press conference in his office reacting to allegations credited to the PDP zonal vice-chairman.
He stated that pronouncements by George cast doubts on his ability as a zonal chairman of a political party, adding that years after retiring from the Navy, George was yet to dump his military arrogance.
Pedro bemoaned George's "ignorance" exhibited in his claim that the excess oil windfall was being spent. He wondered why state governors were still clamouring for its release if it had been spent.
He commended the leadership qualities of Governor Tinubu, adding that he (Tinubu) was only after how peace could be ensured.
Pedro called on the Inspector-General of Police to investigate the threat to the life of Governor Tinubu, adding that George would be held responsible for any breakdown of law and order in the state.
