MONDAY , NOVEMBER 8, 2004   RAMADAN 26, 1425 A.H.           UNFPA to spend $1.08m in Kebbi The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) will spend about 1.08 million dollars on the implementation of its programmes in Kebbi state between last year and 2007. The state UNFPA adviser, Alhaji Yusuf Gusau made the disclosure while briefing newsmen at the weekend in Birnin Kebbi. He said the state government would contribute 10 per cent of the fund. Under the Reproductive Health Project (RH), 170 primary and secondary health facilities will be provided across the state, according to him. He said the project would also train doctors, nurses and community health workers in RH related fields, including HIV/AIDS, Vesico-Vagival Fistula (VVF). Gusau said, 20 secondary schools would be selected as pilot schools for the sensitisation of students on reproductive health which would be in conformity with the religion and customs of the people.
