TO further enlighten the society and move it
forward, Women Farmers Advancement Network (WOFAN) Kano had on Thursday
organized a lecture at Kumurya town in Rano local government area of Kano
state on the rights of couples on each other as well as their children.
Delivering the lecture, a prominent Islamic
scholar in the state, Ustaz Urwatu Ja'afar called on husbands to take good
care of their wives by providing them with all needs as enshrined by Islam.
Ustaz Ja'afar explained that it is the duty of
every husband in Islam to provide his wife with shelter, security, medical
care and food, stating that it is against Islam for a husband to eat a
delicious food and give his wife poor one as is the practice noted to be
common in the society.
He reminded husbands that whatever they feed
their wives with would not go in vain, but would adequately be rewarded by
God both here and the hereafter.
Meanwhile, the Islamic scholars also urged
parents to monitor closely the behaviour of their children so that they
could become useful to the society.
He said the non-challant attitude of parents on
their children where they allow the children to live un-monitored by their
parents should be discarded, stating that if that was not checked, our
society could head to the rocks and Allah (SWT) would question us for that
on the day of judgment.
Hajiya Gogo Dr. Hassan Gwarzo who spoke to a
group of females at the occasion urged them to maintain personal hygiene
adding that by doing so their husbands would always enjoy their company
stating that the current practice by many women of not taking cognizance of
their hygiene should be discarded.
He assured the women that if they maintain
clean body and home their husbands would always stand by them at any time.
"I assure you that if you stick to this, the
sky is going to be your limit," she remarked.
She also called on both the husband and wife to
put heads together for the betterment of the society, adding that if
everyone plays his role adequately, the ills bedeviling us would be a thing
of the past.
Speaking earlier, the coordinator of WOFAN,
Hajiya Salamatu Garba urged the participants to utilize what they were
taught, promising that her agency would continue to play its role in moving
the society forward.
Contributing the ward head of Kumurya, Alhaji
Salihi Musa, thanked WOFAN and prayed to Allah to always guide it to the
right direction so that it continue to assist the society.
