MONDAY , NOVEMBER 8, 2004   RAMADAN 26, 1425 A.H.           Zamfara commissioner resigns The Zamfara Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Alhaji Ibrahim Shehu, has voluntarily resigned his appointment. A reliable source at Government House, Gusau, told then News Agency of Nigerian (NAN) on Friday in Gusau that Shehu had already submitted his resignation letter to the Secretary to the State Government (SSG). According to the source, the commissioner had prior to his resignation complained of about the way and manner things were done in the state. �The action of the commissioner may not be unconnected with the way things are going in the state, because he has lost faith and confidence in the administration of Gov. Ahmed Sani,�� the source said. �The governor has also centralised every bit of governance and government activity under his office,�� the source added. Before his appointment a special assistant to the governor on electrification and communication, and later commissioner, budget and economy planning, Shehu was a senior officer in charge of Mtel GSM services. Efforts to contact the commissioner for comments failed as he was said to have travelled to Saudi Arabia for lesser Hajj. Similar efforts to contact the SSG, Alhaji Husaini Moriki, proved abortive as he was also said to have gone to Saudi Arabia for lesser pilgrimage.
