CONDFLICTING signals continued to trail Super Eagles' captain Austin Okocha's participation in the next week friendly game between the Super Eagles and the South African national team, Bafana Bafana in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Super Eagles' Coach Christian Chukwu maintained yesterday that Okocha's injury was a minor one and that he would be in Johannesburg for the match.
But one of his assistants told The Guardian that they had not been in contact with the Super Eagles' captain.
Okocha himself said on his club, Bolton Wonderers website on Monday that he would not be travelling to South Africa for the match to be played in honour of former South African Presidernt, Nelson Mandela, not because of injury but because the travelling will too much for him.
Meanwhile, former Super Eagles Assistant Coach Joe Erico has said the match is not important as such and the team can do without Okocha.
Erico told The Guardian yesterday at National Stadium that the country has many players to fill the vacuum as Nigeria discovers new player every time.
