Ikedia boosts Abesan Youth Cup
By Olorunwa Ajayi

SUPER Eagles' player, Pius Ikedia, has lent his support to Abesan Football Development Association. Ikedia, a product of the competition, sponsored by the body, doled out a sum of N200,000 for this year's championship which begins December 5 at the Abesan High School.

Co-ordinator of the event, Tayo Adeyemo, speaking at a press conference at the venue of the event, said that N300,000 will be sourced from other sponsors to meet up with the N500,000 which the event is expected to gulp.

He said that it was a good development that a product of the body found it worthy to contribute to the football development in the area.

Also speaking at the conference, Chairman of Musan/Ikola Local Council Chief Olu Badejo, assured that his council would ensure that adequate security is provided at the venue.

"The people of the local government are peace-loving. Our youths are trying to make good use of their time, so all I can do is to give them my support," he stated.

Badejo said that security operatives and men of the Nigeria Police will be at the venue of the event.

Ikeja local council chairman, Chief Badaru called on other players that have benefited in the past to contribute their quota to the development of youth sports.

He also commended the effort of the organisers, warning them not allow the event to turn into a jamboree but an avenue for talent discovery.

Teams that will feature in the competition include Larry, F.C, Labro F. C., F.C Sunday, Sharp Shooters F.C, M & A F.C, F.C. Porto (Abesan), Adaranijo F.C. Esusu F.C., All Star F.C. and Frab F.C. among others.
