Murtala foundation joins sponsors
By Folake Olujimi

MURTALA Mohammed Foundation (MMF), a non profit development organisation, has joined the league of sponsors of this year's marathon competition.

Executive Secretary of the foundation, Aisha Oyebode stated that the organisation had observed that immediately a disaster occurs in the country, the victims will be bombarded by an onslaught of emergency assistance in different forms, but she noted that the trend changes when the dust is settled and the disaster is no more in the headline.

Her words: "Disaster relief fund of the foundation will address this issue by using available funds set aside specifically for such purpose.

"In providing disaster relief, MMF will not only provide fund but will galvanise other organisations to continue to donate materials, cash or services and co-ordinate the restoration project well after the disaster."
She further explained that the organisation has resettled some displaced victims. "After the Ikeja bomb blasts, the magnitude of need for school facilities within that community was clearly not in doubt. The foundation has completed the construction of four classroom blocks with 38 classrooms to accommodate the children displaced by the Ikeja Cantonment disaster".

This year's competition has attracted many sponsors like Eva Water, DMT Mobile Toilet, KAI Motors, among others.
