BABURA local government council in Jigawa
state, has distributed (N11,830,000.00) to 169 polling units in the area.
Speaking, while distributing the money to the
chairmen and secretaries of polling units, the vice-chairman of the council,
Alhaji Mansur Danladi AbdulRashid Kanya, said each polling unit received
N50,000 for the execution of project N10,000 allowances of unit members
while women wing of each polling unit got N10,000.
Alhaji Danladi Kanya, warned that the council
will not tolerate diversion of the funds to personal use from any chairman
or secretary of the polling unit, no matter how highly placed.a
He said, in order to ensure optimum
accountability, the local government set up a monitoring team to closely
monitor the type of project executed by each polling unit and submit a
comprehensive report for the next line of action.
On his part, the publicity secretary of the All
Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) Jigawa state chapter, Alhaji Aminu Ahmad (Infor)
Babura, said the Jigawa state governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Saminu Turaki, has
directed the ministry for local government to release funds to all the 27
local councils for distributing to their respective polling units across the
state.
Alhaji Ahmad, said as a result of creating new
junior secondary schools in the area that lacks shelter and furniture's, it
was resolved to construct some classrooms with some money to provide a
conducive atmosphere for learning.
He commended polling units in Babura town for
executing peoples oriented projects which include, construction of two
blocks of classrooms at Rijiyar Mangwaro Islamiyya school and Babura Arewa
primary school renovation of Babura-Gabas primary school and the renovation
of a community Islamiyya school at Kofar-Gaba quarters Babura.
Alhaji Ahmad Babura, further stated that other
polling units projects executed include construction of two classes at
Batali Islamiyya school and classes at Jigawa town.
He therefore, commended the Jigawa state,
governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Saminu Turaki, for releasing the funds to the
polling units promptly to enable them execute projects that has direct
impact on the lives of the entire people in the state more especially the
down-trodden masses.
