WEDNESDAY , NOVEMBER 9, 2004   RAMADAN 28, 1425 A.H.           Imo warns against false civil service records Imo government will deal decisively with civil servants who falsify their records of service for any reason, says Deputy Gov. Ebere Udeagu. Udeagu issued the warning in Owerri when he received the 2003 annual report of the Imo State Civil Service Commission. He noted the government's efforts to enhance efficiency and productivity in the civil service, and tasked the commission's officials to ensure discipline and sanity in the system. Turning to other matters, the deputy governor said: ``I note with regret that the pensions of a number of civil servants of Ebonyi and Abia origins who retired from the old Imo State are still being paid by the Imo government. ``This has brought additional financial burden on the state.'' Udeagu said, however, that the state government ``will soon commence measures to redress this''. Earlier, the service commission Chairman, Chief Hyacinth Onyekwere, had said the 2003 annual report was the 28th in the series and the fifth since he took office. The report had been designed to provide a comprehensive summary of the commission's activities for the period Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2003, the chairman explained. He called for ``the total elimination of the ghost worker syndrome'' in Imo.
