WEDNESDAY , NOVEMBER 9, 2004   RAMADAN 28, 1425 A.H.           Join strike and forfeit pay, FG warns workers From ATIKU SARKI, Abuja BARELY six days to the commencement of the nationwide strike called by the Nigeria Labour Contress (NLC), the federal government has issued a warning to all federal workers to shun the call or lose their salaries for the period they will be on that strike. The statement signed by the minister of labour and productivity, Dr. Hassan Muhammad Lawal stated that "any worker who takes part in the strike, shall not be entitled to any wage or other remuneration for the period of the strike.'' The minister further warned that workers who abscond from work during the period of the strike shall not only forfeit their pay, but also lose their rights of continuous employment. "Where any worker takes part in a strike, he shall not be entitled to any wages or other remuneration for the period of the strike and all rights dependent on continuity of employment shall be affected accordingly,'' he warned.
