WEDNESDAY , NOVEMBER 9, 2004   RAMADAN 28, 1425 A.H.           Imo pledges atmosphere conducive to business The Imo government says it is determined to make the state conducive for indigenes and non-indigenes to live in and do business. The state's deputy governor, Chief Ebere Udeagu, made the pledge today in Owerri when he received members of the Owerri branch of Akwa-Ibom State Association, who paid him a courtesy visit. Udeagu called on members of similar associations in the state to co-operate with the state government to achieve its developmental goals. He commended the Akwa-Ibom State Association for acknowledging the efforts of the state government in raising the standard of living of the people and promised that the government would not relent. Earlier, president of the association, Dr Udo Inyang, expressed satisfaction with government's programmes which, he said, touched the lives of the people, including non-indigenes. Inyang said the association had concluded plans to confer an award of Chief Patron of the association on Gov. Achike Udenwa during its forthcoming awards night. He appealed to the state government to provide the association with a parcel of land and financial assistance to enable it to build an office accommodation in the state.
