WEDNESDAY , NOVEMBER 9, 2004   RAMADAN 28, 1425 A.H.           Turaki commended for funding polling units JIGAWA state governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Saminu Turaki has been given a pass mark for introducing the funding of polling units. The chairman of Kaya polling unit in Sule-Tankarkar local government area Jigawa state, Alhaji Lirwanu Barde Albasu, who made the commendation while speaking to our reporter said the policy has greatly assisted in the execution of various viable projects. He described governor Turaki as a visionary leader who always meets the yearnings and aspirations of his people. Alhaji Barde, said Sule-Tankarkar local government is blessed with able and dedicated politicians who hold elective posts and renders various forms of assistance to their people at all times. These politicians according to him, include honourable Yahaya Mohammad Danladi (Bigman) a member representing Sule Tankarakar local government in the Jigawa state house of assembly, Hon. Ibrahim Mohammad Garba Hannun-Giwa a member federal House of representatives representing Sule Tankarkar, and senator Dalha Ahmad Danzomo for Jigawa North-west Senatorial district. Others are, Alhaji Lawan Yunusa Danzomo commissioner ministry of basic education Jigawa state Alhaji Muhammad Umar Albasu former secretary Jigawa state, primary education board, the chairman of Sule Tankarkar local government council Alhaji Ali Ado Sule, and his secretary Alhaji Bashari Maitsamiy. The polling unit chairman, said having impressed with the outstanding performances of projects executed by these polling units, the governor has increased the money from N50,000=toN70,000=per unit. He appealed to all polling units chairmen across the state, to be honest and steadfast in discharging their duties in order to justify the public confidence reposed in them. Alhaji Barde who is also traditional title holder of Barden Albasu, also commended a philanthropist Alhaji Badau Abubakar Babura, chairman northern Nigeria chamber of commerce mines and agriculture, and Hon.
