WEDNESDAY , NOVEMBER 9, 2004   RAMADAN 28, 1425 A.H.           we�ll impeach Dariye if...-- Plateau Assembly From CHRISTIANA GOKYO, Jos THE suspended Plateau state House of Assembly has agreed to impeach Governor Joshua Dariye, if allegations of financial misconduct are proved against him when the state of emergency is lifted on November 18, 2004. The 24 members of the assembly came to this conclusion in their meeting with President Olusegun Obasanjo at the State House in Abuja on Monday. Speaker of the House, Barr. Simon Lalong who briefed journalists yesterday on the outcome of their meeting, said that they were also briefed on the on-going trial of Dariye on failure to declare assets as charged by the Code of Conduct Tribunal. The speaker disclosed that when the state of emergency is lifted and the political structure restored, the house would investigate the allegations against Dariye and act in accordance with the provisions of the constitution. Barr. Lalong said Obasanjo wanted a firm promise from the Plateau state legislators if they were going to change when they are restored to office. "We promise we will change and be up and doing,'' he reaffirmed.
