IBB groups intact, campaigners insist

By Sola Shittu

Reporter, Ibadan

Project 007, a group campaigning for the election of former military president, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, in 2007, has denied media reports of a crack in its ranks, describing the report in some media as a figment of the imagination of detractors.

Addressing a press conference in Ibadan, the Deputy Secretary General of the group, Princess Bisi Sangodoyin, dismissed the former leader of the group, Mr. Remi Tella, who allegedly defected to Marwas campaign organisation, MAP 007, as nobody in the IBB group.

I can tell you that no member has left Project 007. Its all a figment of their imagination. I wonder how someone who has never been a member of a group could defect from a group he doesnt belong. We dont have any Remi Tella as a member of Project 007. All our members are loyal people, she said.

She described the defectors as a group of people trying to make name through frivolous means and which should not be encouraged.

Ogundoyin added that those of them who are in Project 007 are satisfied with the candidature of General Ibrahim Babangida for the 2007 presidency.

Project 007 is a group composed of people of like minds and a coalition of political parties as well as professionals championing the course of former president, Ibrahim Babangida, to come back to power in 2007, said Ogundoyin.

She explained further that the group has done its homework and found that the present political climate favours Babangidas come back bid.

Similarly, the IBB Vision 2007, another campaign organisation, described the Tella-led group as political prostitutes who were only trying to seek relevance.

The group in a statement issued by Mr Goke Owoeye said: We can authoritatively assure Marwa camp that those dubious coordinators who claimed to have crossed carpet to his group would still abandon Marwa camp after they might have achieved their devilish aims.

The statement described Tella as someone who is not honest with his followers and has betrayed the confidence reposed on him by the state chapter of Project 007.

Those who claimed to have defected are known to be political robbers who have no interest of the masses in their heart. They dont have anything to offer this country. Their aim is only to dubiously serve and embezzle our nations money, the statement added.
