Uphold public trust, Masari counsels leaders By Hammeed m. Bello The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Bello Masari has admonished leaders to conduct themselves in a manner that would encourage members of the public to trust them. Those who assume leadership position, Masari said, must ensure that they use the positions to improve the condition of living of their subject as part of efforts to uphold and sustain public trust. Masari said in a special Id-el-Fitri message urged Nigerians not to allow the economic hardship in the nation to shake their faith in the country because Nigeria is greater than anybody and will overcome the difficulties being suffered. He called for cooperation and understanding as routes out of the present difficulties, adding that “the longer people work at cross purposes, the longer the nation will suffer.” The Speaker urged Muslims to ensure that the lessons of discipline of Ramadan fast become part of their daily life. “Nothing would have been gained if we return to the ungodly things that Ramadan taught us to avoid.” He also assured Nigerians that the legislature will continue to strive hard to advance the course of democratic governance in Nigeria.   TO NEXT NEWS PAGE...
