Makarfi decries proliferation of guber aspirants From Aliyu Haruna, in Kaduna The Kaduna state governor, Alhaji Ahmad Mahammad Makarfi has described the proliferation of gubernatorial aspirants in the state as an “act driven by passionate personal ambition,” which is capable of leading to rancour and negative consequences for the state. Speaking during the Southern Kaduna Democratic Youth Forum at Arewa House in Kaduna Sunday, Governor Makarfi cautioned the aspirants against unguided utterances, which he said “can damage their political intension and careers.” According to him, political office seekers should put the entire state on their mind first pointing out that they must exhibit attitude that will show responsiveness and their capabilities to rule as, according to him, if such self serving people should come to power in 2007, his conscience will not be clear. Governor Makarfi also advised that a forum be created where by all those seeking offices will be made to understand that the state come over and above any other interest, adding that those willing to aspire should also work hard not to rely on him for “endorsement or favour,” even he assured of creating a level playing field for all aspirants. Earlier, chairman of the forum, Mr. Abokie Galadima said that the Southern part of the state was not only agitating for power shift, but has respect for ethnic diversity pointing out that the zone has contributed tremendously for the peace and development of the state.     NEXT...
