Nzeribe cant threaten my ambition Ararume
By Paul Mumeh
Senior Correspondent, Abuja
Senator Ifeanyi Ararume (PDP Imo North) who is angling for the Imo State governorship seat in 2007 has said Senator
Arthur Nzeribe is no threat to his ambition.
Reacting to Nzeribes declared interest in the race, Ararume told journalists that he respects Nzeribe as an Igbo
leader but that Nzeribe could not be a threat to his ambition.
Ararume noted that there was an accord that the 2007 governorship ticket should go to Ikigwe since Orlu and Owerri
zones have had their slots in Evan Enwerem 1991-92 and Achike Udenwa 1999-2007.
He said Governor Achike Udenwa was part of the agreement and could not be seen to be breaking the accord.
The senator said the PDP top hierarchy has a policy to the effect that any senatorial zone that has produced a
governor for eight years should automatically concede to the next zone.
I think the situation is clear. It is conventional. No responsible party man or woman will do anything to undermine
the party guidelines or case rancour, Ararume said.
Ararume was optimistic that even if he does not get the ticket, it certainly would not elude Okigwe zone.
On the Anambra crisis the senator called for calm between and among the combatants as no development could be made
in an atmosphere of disorder.
