the importance of education as a veritable tool of socio-economic and technological transformation adding that
this belief energized the state government to embrace the IDA Credit facility offered by the World Bank on UBE.
The Commissioner said that the purpose of UBE/World Bank Assisted Project was the development and implementation
of sustainable state programme for UBE with priority given to educationally disadvantaged Local Government Areas.
She told the participants that the focus of UBE programme was the improvement in service delivery of Basic Education
in the six participating Local Government Areas of Irepodun/Ifelodun, Ikere, Efon, Ido/Osi, Gbonyin and Moba.

arrangements being one of the World Bank conditions for the effectiveness of the UBE-WB Assisted projects in Ekiti
State.
She said that the provision of the State Counterpart fund, the institution of a Project Coordinating and implementation
Units at the Ministry of Education, SPEB and necessary Staff added colour to the states recognition by the World
Bank as a UBE-WB Assisted Project.
The Commissioner expressed the hope that at the end of the workshop the participants would among others been strengthened
on necessary awareness/mobilization for UBEP and be conversant with their roles as School management Committee
members in their communities.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Education Alhaji Yakubu Sanni noted that the various educational
policy dialogues have revealed the concerted need to strategic effective basic education delivery process through
a participating funding, administration and management approach.
He said that it was in the recognition of this scheme that has spurred the Ministry of Education to initiate the
various levels of sensitization workshops among various Stakeholders on the UBE-World Bank project and charged
the participants to put in their best and participate actively and effectively in the workshop to enable them to
be fully prepared to face the challenges of the task ahead.
