Group renews call for peace, calm in Ekiti
By Rafiu Ajakaye,
special correspondent, Lagos
Ekiti Media Group, a sub group of Ekiti Parapo, has again called on the indigenes of Ekiti State at home and in
the Diaspora to join the struggle to put an end to political disharmony ravaging the state.
Speaking at the Third Merit Award of the group, former Federal Health Secretary, Prince Julius Adelusi-Adeluyi
said it was regrettable that the politics of vendetta being played out in the state has destroyed the bond of unity
among the indigenes, urging that it was time that lasting peace was brought to the state.
Adelusi-Adeluyi, who was represented by Prince Shafe Adewunmi, said politics in Ekiti has turned to sour.
It is regrettable that despite our intellectual endowments among others, our state is still very much embroiled
in serious political problem, which has affected the progress of our state in business, politics what have you,
Adelusi-Adeluyi stated.
He implored all Ekitis not to keep silent, but should seek ways of bringing back friendliness, patriotism, love
and togetherness to the state.
Earlier in his welcome address, Mr. Biodun Akin Fasae, a two-time Chief Press Secretary to military administrators
of the state, condemned the political crisis in the state, asserting that there was the problem of lack of acceptable
leadership in Ekiti that needed to be addressed.
He called on Ekitis at the national assembly and other eminent indigenes to come to the aid of the state, adding
that posterity would not be kind to them if they watched while their homeland battled for survival in the face
of political violence and underdevelopment.
Guest speaker at the occasion and Executive Editor of Tell Magazine, Dare Babarinsa, averred that the only way
Nigeria could be saved from disintegration is when its leaders find an equitable solution to the issue of state
creation, which according to him is a major hindrance to the development of African nations.
